What is Clinical Research?

Clinical Research is a branch of healthcare and refers to all research carried out with humans (healthy or battling illness).  It focuses on furthering knowledge of diseases, developing diagnostic methods and new medications or medical devices.  This type of research is designed to identify improvements in treatments and devices intended for human use, and to ensure better patient care.

Clinical research includes both observational and interventional trials. Observational trials focus on knowledge of diseases and their evolution over time. Interventional trials provide scientific evidence of safety and effectiveness of a new drug or healthcare device.

Every modern medication we have available today was studied in thousands of people, who volunteered to participate in a clinical trial. The decision to participate in a study is a personal one. Being a part of a clinical trial can make a real difference in the lives of others.
