I seem to get several incoming messages via email, phone and text. Where and who are these messages coming from?
These messages are sent automatically to our volunteers as a reminder to complete your e-diary and of your upcoming visits. Some of these messages come from Be Well Clinical Studies and some may come directly from the Sponsor.
What kind of preparation is expected prior to starting a clinical study?
Specific study requirements will be shared with you prior to each visit during the study. We will do everything we can to help you feel comfortable with the process and to know what to expect. We will always ask you to come hydrated to your visits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still donate blood if I’m in a trial?
If the protocol doesn’t specify, you can still donate blood. We can let you know at the start of the study if giving blood is not allowed. However, some community blood banks do not allow clinical study volunteers to donate blood if they are actively in a study. So, be sure to check with your blood bank first.
What happens if I get sick during a study?
You are always free to seek medical care as needed during study participation. Depending on the study and nature of your sickness you may be asked to return to our clinic for a safety follow-up visit. If you become sick during a study you will be asked to contact our clinic and report your symptoms as soon as possible.
Do I have to pay taxes on my stipend payments?
Be Well Clinical Studies (and all clinical research clinics) is required to report any amount greater than $600 in an annual stipend to the IRS. A 1099 will be postmarked by the end of January next year and mailed to you.
Who do I contact with questions?
During your first study visit, you will be provided with a copy of your informed consent document which lists our clinic phone number. You are encouraged to call us with any questions regarding your study participation.
Why do I have to sign a medical records release form?
A signed medical records release form allows us to access health records in the event of an emergency or hospitalization. It also gives us authority to share clinical information with other medical providers as necessary. This is for your safety and will only be used in extreme cases. We do not access medical records for any other purpose.
